India vs. South Africa T20 Internationals (T20Is), has gained immense popularity worldwide, and tournaments like the ICC T20 World Cup bring together teams from different nations to compete at the highest level. The first T20I match in such a tournament is special for both teams involved.

Suryakumar Yadav, fresh from leading India to a 4-1 T20I home series win against Australia, will captain the T20 side while K.L. Rahul will be in charge of the one-day matches.

However, Suryakumar and Co. have received a major boost as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and opener Shubman Gill will make their respective returns in the T20I series. Pacer Deepak Chahar, who missed the final T20I against Australia, is available for the 1st T20I at Durban. Either Ruturaj Gaikwad or Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to make way for opener Gill in the series opener. Leading the visitors in the T20Is, superstar Suryakumar is assisted by veteran all-rounder Jadeja. The senior all-rounder was earlier named the vice-captain of the Rohit-less side. Talking more about India's playing XI, there will also be a toss-up between spinner Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav.

Both teams will be without key players for the white-ball games, ahead of two World Test Championship matches later in the tour. South Africa’s ODI and Test captain Temba Bavuma and fast bowler Kagiso Rabada will miss all the limited-overs matches. Fast bowlers Gerald Coetzee, Marco Jansen, and Lungi Ngidi will play only in the first two T20 internationals before returning to their franchises to play in domestic four-day cricket ahead of the Tests.

Meanwhile, there will be an opportunity for some players to simply seal their place in the India T20 XI ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, which is less than 6 months away. Players such as Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer have all shown glimpses of good form but will need to continue their good form to make their case to the selectors.

 

 The Proteas will be without the services of experienced pacer Kagiso Rabada due to injury, while other pacers like Gerald Coetzee, Marco Jansen, and Lungi Ngidi will return to their franchises after the second T20I to play domestic 4-day cricket.

India vs South Africa Live: The Kingsmead stadium pitch is known for helping bowlers, particularly seamers who get extra movement from the moist track. Spinners usually struggle here. However, batters can score a lot of runs once they get used to the pitch. The team winning the toss will probably bat first to try and set a big score.
