Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in the first T20 International, Sri Lanka emerged victorious by 3 wickets, adding a pulsating chapter to the cricketing saga. The match played at an electric venue, lived up to its expectations.

In a thrilling match at Colombo on Sunday, Sri Lanka emerged as the winner in a last-ball encounter against Zimbabwe in the first Twenty20 International.

When they needed six runs off the final two deliveries, tail-ender Dushmantha Chameera played a crucial role, hitting a boundary off the penultimate ball and taking two runs off the last delivery to secure a three-wicket victory.

Muzarabani to Dushmantha Chameera, FOUR! Sri Lanka is alive as they need 2 off the last delivery. Short-pitched body bound, Dushmantha Chameera swings at it and catches the outside edge lobbing it over the keeper for a boundary behind the wicket. It landed inches inside the boundary line.

Angelo Mathews seems to be getting lucky today. The bowler delivers a short delivery outside off and Mathews tries to work it towards his leg side, but he gets a thick outer edge of his bat instead. As a result, the ball flies to the right of the keeper and crosses the boundary line.

Richard Ngarava to Dasun Shanaka, FOUR! Dasun Shanaka delivers! The ex-captain is proving something for the team! Fuller delivery on middle. Dasun Shanaka shuffles and scoops it over the short fine for a boundary.

Angelo Mathews attempts to cut a short ball outside off but gets a thick outer edge, sending the ball far right from the keeper for a boundary. Nuwan Thushara misses the yorker by an inch and Luke Jongwe takes full advantage of it by launching the ball for a one-bounce four straight down the ground.

The bowlers were well supported by the fielders and the spin duo of Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga was the difference maker for the Lankans, giving away just 35 runs and picking up four wickets amongst them. Dushmantha Chameera was a bit expensive but took a crucial wicket of Sikandar Raza at the end. Although it's a challenging target as the ball tends to keep low on this surface, with the Lankan Lions playing in their backyard, they would fancy their chances of achieving this total.

Dushmantha Chameera dismisses Sikandar Raza with a catch! Raza attempted to loft the ball over the long off but failed to connect properly, resulting in a ballooned shot towards the fielder. Dasun Shanaka takes the catch safely, ending Raza's innings.

In a different over, Sean Williams tries to slog a ball from Dasun Shanaka to deep mid-wicket but mishits it. Pathum Nissanka runs in from the fence and puts in a brilliant diving effort to catch the ball but ends up collecting it on a bounce. The umpires ask for a decision by the third umpire as the ball bounced before the fielder caught it. Sean Williams survives, thanks to a brilliant effort by Pathum Nissanka.

Wanindu Hasaranga bowled a tossed-up delivery on off to Sean Williams, who reverse swept it to backward point for no run. He then bowled a much fuller delivery on and off, to which Sean Williams leaned forward and kept it out.

Mahesh Theekshana bowled a fuller and quicker delivery at a flatter trajectory to Craig Ervine, who attempted to block it out but missed and the ball struck his front pad in front of the stumps. The fielding side made a loud appeal and the umpire raised his finger after considering it. Craig Ervine had to walk back.

Angelo Mathews bowled a much fuller delivery this time but it landed outside leg. Craig Ervine looked to flick it but missed as the ball hit his front pad. The Lakans made a loud appeal, but the umpire was unmoved.
