Pankaj Udhas, the revered Ghazal singer, passed away at the age of 72 after battling a prolonged illness. The news of his demise has left a void in the world of music, where his soul-stirring melodies had captured the hearts of millions.

Pankaj Udhas, an Indian Ghazal singer, was born on May 17, 1951, in Gujarat. He is widely celebrated for his soulful renditions of Ghazals. Udhas gained prominence in the 1980s and 1990s, and his melodious voice and emotive performances have earned him a significant fan base in India and overseas.

After the news of the singer's death was shared by Nayaab, his fans flooded the comment section with messages of condolences. A fan expressed, "May his soul rest in peace", while another user wrote, "I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, stay strong and please accept my condolences." Another user posted, "Deepest Condolences and Prayers".

The singer passed away at the Breach Candy hospital around 11 am. His last rites will be held on Tuesday. Pankaj is survived by his wife Farida Udhas, his daughters Nayaab and Reva Udhas, and his brothers Nirmal and Manhar Udhas, who are also singers.

A statement has been released confirming the sad news of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas' death on February 26, 2024, after a prolonged illness. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Udhas was a philanthropist who supported charitable causes and initiatives aimed at social welfare. In 1989, he released the album 'Nabeel', which became one of his best-selling albums, and the first copy was sold for Rs. 1 lakh at an auction to support the Cancer Patients Aid Association. Udhas was actively involved in the Parents Thalassemia Unit. 

Pankaj Udhas is best known for lending his voice to famous tracks like 'Chitthi Aayi Hai' from Mahesh Bhatt's 1986 crime thriller 'Naam', 'Chandi Jaisa Rang Hai' from Pravin Bhatt's 1998 film 'Ek Hi Maqsad', 'Aaj Phir Tumpe' from Feroz Khan's 1988 action thriller 'Dayavan', 'Jeeye To Jeeye Kaise' from Lawrence D'Souza's 1991 romantic film 'Saajan', and 'Chhupana Bhi Nahi Aata' from Abbas-Mustan's 1993 revenge thriller 'Baazigar', among others. 

Udhas has released over fifty albums and countless compilations. He also lent his voice to several Hindi films, including 'Naam', 'Saajan', and 'Mohra'. While he continued to perform at various ghazal events, his most recent song as a playback singer was for the 2016 film 'Dil Toh Deewana Hai'.

Pankaj Udhas, a well-known Indian musician, has had a successful career in the music industry. He has released many albums and singles that have become timeless classics. Some of his most popular songs such as 'Chitthi Aayi Hai', 'Aur Ahista'and 'Jeeye To Jeeye Kaise' are still loved by listeners today.

Udhas is famous for his ghazals including ‘Chitthi Aayi Hai’, ‘Aur Aahista Kijiye Baatein’, ‘Chandi Jaisa Rang Hai Tera’, and ‘Na Kajre Ki Dhar’. He has worked with other well-known Indian music artists and has released many albums

Udhas received the Padma Shri in 2006, which is one of the highest civilian honors in India. He was recognized for his contributions to music.
